I found your site initially
by reading an article in the November edition of TES Primary magazine.
At that time we were not on the Internet at school, but I had a look at
home and thought the site would be really useful. When Swan Lane First
School went on the Internet (January 1999) I decided to try out the Big
Books with my Year 2 English group. We set three times a week in Year
2 as part of the literacy hour and I have a group of about 24 more able
children. They loved Sebastian's site and all wrote a message for him.
I then e-mailed two from home as our e-mail at school didn't seem to be
working last week. I printed off the text from the Swan Book and transferred
it to an overhead transparency. We used it as a shared text today. I blanked
off some of the words with parts of post-its and asked the children to
work out what the missing words might be. They then did the quiz about
swans. They will be delighted when I go in tomorrow and show them the
replies. Many thanks for taking the time to reply. I look forward to the
new book.
Keep up the good work.
