Some birds lay their eggs in a nest. Swans choose a safe place by a river or lake to make their nest. Swans do not build nests in trees, like some other birds, because they are so heavy! They use grass and water plants, like reeds, to build the nest.
Newts are a type of amphibian like frogs. They spend part of their life in water and part of their life on land. Newts lay their eggs one by one in water and stick them to water plants. The eggs hatch into newtpoles (like tadpoles) and have gills to breathe in the water.
Animals are nocturnal when they are awake at night time and sleep in the day. Badgers are nocturnal, they hunt for food at night.
Nutrients are the parts of the soil that plants need to live and grow. Plants also need sunlight, water and air. These primroses are using the nutrients from the woodland soil to help them grow.
