Link to virtual tour introduction

Less than one kilometre south of Westminster Bridge is a meander where several characteristics of the Darent's journey can be observed, such as erosion and transportation. The faster flow on the outer bend at the chalk bank forms a river cliff, while the slower current encourages the deposit of silt, so allowing the invasion of marginal plants.

Numerous species of small fish can frequently be seen gathering near the waters edge, mainly in Spring and Summer. Their camouflaged upper parts making it difficult to see in the shady areas.
