View 8 - Westminster Bridge
Link to virtual tour introduction

The river near Westminster Bridge with the old mill in the background. It was originally a corn mill during the Victorian era. The shallow water here allows easy access by children to investigate freshwater life. Frequently water shrimps, water scorpions, damsel fly and mayfly nymphs are seen, together with minnows and several other species of fish.

Pupils also study the physical characteristics of the river here, i.e. its width, depth, flow, deposition and transportation.

The mill house and old factory was demolished in September 2000 to make way for the construction of 22 new houses built on a 'mill' theme. Building works started in Spring 2001.
