Church

St Mary's Church
is probably of Saxon origin and has changed a lot since the Norman times.
The yellow brick tower replaced the existing steeple in 1866 and was
immediately condemned by the local parishioners as it did not blend
with the flint walls of the rest of the church. The churchyard contains
a number of interesting graves and provides historical evidence of past
parishioners such as members of the Russell family, Henry Rashleigh,
a prominent Victorian vicar and the Keddels who were teachers at the
old Church of England school. Many of the children who attended the
school who did not move away from the village, are also buried here.
