Reynolds Place, on the corner of Lombard Street and Rays Hill, was mentioned in the Domesday book as a Saxon farm. It has existed since Norman times. During the Tudor period, it was a large red brick house with leaded light windows bearing the arms of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, so dating them about 1536. However, the great storm of 1703 destroyed the building, leaving only remnants of the original Tudor windows. The present building was built in the 18th Century and is divided into two homes.

During the Victorian times the owners of Reynolds Place must have employed many domestic staff, stable hands and gardeners to manage the home.
