One sunny day some water weed was floating in the pond. Suddenly
there was a splish and a splash and it was all gone. Who ate the water weed?
It was a caddis fly nymph. They build their homes out of twigs and stones.
There was a caddis fly nymph swimming in the pond. Suddenly there was
a swirl and a whirl and it was all gone. Who ate the caddis fly nymph?
It was a great water boatman. Great water boatmen swim on their backs.
There was a great water boatman paddling in a pond. Suddenly there was
a pull and a tug and it was all gone. Who ate the great water boatman?
It was a newt. Newts lay their eggs hidden on leaves so other animals
can't find them.
There was a newt gliding across the pond. Suddenly there was a wiggle
and a waggle and it was all gone. Who ate the newt? It was a fish. Fish breathe underwater using their gills.
There was a fish darting about in the pond. Suddenly there was a flip
and a flap and it was all gone. Who ate the fish? It was a heron. Herons live near ponds and rivers. They eat fish and
frogs.
The heron ate the fish. The fish ate the newt. The newt ate the water
boatman. The water boatman ate the caddis fly nymph. The caddis fly nymph
ate the water weed and that was the end of that. YUM!
